  <dc:description>CHMRB has 1 copy; SCNHRB has 2 copies (1 complete
and 1 incomplete).</dc:description>
  <dc:description>The CHMRB copy (accession nos. 8168-8170) has a

words, on the 1st p. of the introduzione in t. 1.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>The CHMRB copy has an old half-vellum binding with
black cloth-covered boards, a gilt-tooled spine; raised bands; and red and
black leather spine labels.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 1 (39088009224551; 39088009226002;
39088009225863) has provenance stamp on t.p.'s:
Castellucci.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 1 has an old (contemporary?) dark
quarter-leather binding with embossed-cloth-covered boards; gilt-tooled
spine; marbled endpapers; re-backed.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 2 has t. 2 (39088010317410; transfered
from REPT), t. 3 (39088000959114; transfered from FISH), and a portfolio of
apparently related class tables (39088006372551),
only.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 2 of t. 2 is imperfect: plates 59 and 81
are wanting; the text for Bufo vulgaris (plate 82) is also wanting. SCNHRB
c. 2 has bookplate: Library of Congress (Smithsonian Deposit); a prospectus
([2] p.) dated "28 Novembre 1832" is bound in at the end. Old brown
half-leather binding with embossed cloth-covered boards; raised bands;
gilt-lettered spine label; and marbled endpapers.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 2 of t. 3 is imperfect: plates 135, 151,
154, and some related text pages are wanting. The original printed paper
cover from the back of fasc. 7 is bound in after plate 11; a typed
translation of part of Atherina hepsetus is laid in.</dc:description>
  <dc:description>SCNHRB c. 2 has a separate portfolio with 4 folded
"class tables" for I. Mammalia (double leaf); II. Aves (quadruple leaf);
III. Amphibia (double leaf) and IV. Pisces (quadruple leaf). Each class
table has a running footer printed at the bottom that reads "Icon. Faun.
Ital. Caroli L. Bonaparte." These class tables are not mentioned in the
bibliographical sources consulted and may be a supplemental part issued
with only a few copies of the work. The class tables are in an old
portfolio of gilt-tooled green half-morocco with marbled paper boards and a
handwritten label pasted on the front. The class tables have a few
handwritten notes in pencil, and are stamped: U.S. National Museum,
Smithsonian Institution, Mar. 30, 1882; accession no.: 124883. The tables
also have a red ink stamp for S.F. Baird.</dc:description>
